PSYCHEDELIC ILLUSTRATION PRINTS - ISABELLA ANDREWS
22ND FEB- 15TH MAR
A lover of ambiguity, the mysterious and the nonsensical, Nor Izabelle obtained her BA in Fine Arts from LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore. Specialising in ‘Graphic Novel’, Izabelle gathers inspiration from comic books, the psychedelic and conspiracy theories that help generate narratives within her drawings. She creates illustrations which incorporate original characters derived from her subconscious and exaggerated human body forms that find themselves intertwined, coiled and merged. Nor Izabelle enjoys playing with the themes of illogicality and promiscuity and hopes to provoke a sense of lucidity and absurdism within her works.

ACRYLIC AND CHARCOAL ON RECYCED CANVAS - NOOR SYAFIQ
15TH - 31ST DEC
Noor Syafiq is a Singaporean graffiti and public artist. Syafiq first got into the subculture in 2005 and his passion has led to him painting in several graffiti events and festivals both locally and within the region.
Titled Bebas, Syafiq debuts ten acrylic and charcoal paintings on recycled canvas.
This is the first time Syafiq is showcasing his work in an indoor setting. In doing so, he hopes to engage others with his paintings by bringing elements of street art into a more intimate environment.
Street art is expressive - free. It is also meant for the public - for them to engage with the art by creating their own meaning from it. In this showcase, Syafiq uses random composition of patterns to open space for speculation.
Through shapes, bold lines and repeated patterns, the artwork invites others to create their own meaning based on what they see.

SILKSCREEN - MITHRA
22ND NOV - 9TH DEC
Mithra (1994) is a Singaporean visual artist with a BA in Fine Arts from Lasalle College of the Arts. She specialises in Printmaking and paper cutting. Predominantly influenced by manga art, she draws inspiration from the illustrative art style. She attempts to provoke a subtle and paradoxical sense of silent horror and the fluidity of sexuality through her prints.
Her current research focuses on the cyborg theory to mental health. With the intention of giving the viewer multiple interpretations of the headspace as a landscape, the act of obsessive daydreaming and “ero guro nansensu”, she attempts to challenge their morals and ethics. Her current body of work shifts from depicting her chimeric entity, the Lotus in different visual landscapes in her prints.

RUNNING FROM SOMETHING, LOOKING FOR SOMETHING - JONATHAN LIU
“This project began with a contemplation on my part with a yearning to situate myself within my own work in a performative aspect. I wanted to explore the effects of being isolated from technology, throwing myself into a world of ethereal landscapes devoid of any intentions.
On this two-week journey circumventing the entire perimeter of Iceland, I have successfully cut myself off from any outside communication shifting all my focus into the act of taking photographs, all the while noting down every aspect of my journey in a diary log. It consists of every thought, every song that triggered an emotion, every escape, every joy and every moment of sadness I've felt along the way. In the sparse landscape, alone, I’ve come to the conclusion that I was running away from something and more importantly I was looking for something else. Both suffer in the silence of the mystery.
Through photography I was able to seek and experience the phenomena of the sublime. The search and journey I’ve undertook became highly therapeutic in the process of making work. The word Sublime, throughout history has been an expression for the unknowable. It is many things ranging from being a judgement, to a feeling or a state of mind perhaps even beyond the reach of human understanding, but it had always been associated to a kind of response to art or nature. Artists have to be willing to go out there, deep into reality, in order to bring the thing back whole.”
